I enjoy working with watercolor because it is somewhat unpredictable and it forces me to give up a degree of control over the painting. The first example in this gallery is not representative of that philosophy, but I can't give up all control, right?

31 Days of Halloween - 2010
One impromptu drawing per day (quickly drawn on a bev nap) for the month of October.
Halloween is my favorite "holiday" and this project started as an exercise to celebrate the macabre, to ensure that some drawing occurred every day, and to entertain my Facebook friends with creepy little creations until Halloween arrives.
I have been drawing and posting bev nap illustrations for years but 2010 was the first year that I committed to a drawing a day.
Please note: Day 4 sucks. I might have had one too many tasty adult beverages. They are drawn on bev naps after all ;)-
random bev nap sketches
I do a lot of drawing and sketching "on the fly" and often times at my local watering hole, where there is an abundance of craft beer and bev naps. I love pen and ink and have become very fond of the effect I can get with a fast line and this particularly fragile paper.
Quick illustration of Lyle Lovett from a cool photo I saw in a magazine
This is a purely random collection of drawings, sketches, figure studies, etc., on many different surfaces with ink, pencil or charcoal.
